You May Never Understand

Behind her smiles are stories you may never understand;

stories of pain and stories of fear.

Day after day these stories get deeper.

No one would guess because her smile always shines;

a smile forces so no one would ask.

It seemed like no one cared,

at least that she knew of;

so her stories go untold.

Scared and alone in a world of pain and fear,

for what she knows, no one understands.

No one even knew,

but it would all change.

And one time someone would see the scars,

and ask her why she did it.

She'll cry and say, "You wouldn't understand."
